you can't see what's going on
underneathe the surface
hiding in the shadows
a hundred fathoms deep
is it so dangerous
or is it only a refraction
magnifying what isn't there
or is it lurking nearby
masking its identity
tricking you again
remember the trench?
in that deepest darkness?
sight is meaningless there
your one tiny light
can only go so far
and often it hides the truth
you'll never see
the two rows of teeth
open wide
ready to snap
